I wish I read some reviews before my terrible experience with Pawssum. My baby girl was completely immobile and I wanted a peaceful euthanasia done as I was unable to take her to the vet. I called multiple mobile vets but the only one I could find that services my area was Pawssum. The prices are a little misleading on their site. They charged me $479 as I specified I had a bigger dog. Plus the $200 for after care etc. This was fine as I understand they might need an extra dose or something. It is what came after that was the most upsetting.
I booked the appointment at 4pm and Dr (if you can call him that) Beshoy arrived at 3:15 while I was on an important work meeting call. When he sees my dog he said she is bigger than he expected in a shocked way when I specified she was a big dog.
He explained he would have use anaesthesia for her as she was “aggressive”. She did the “someone is here bark” that dogs do. She couldn’t even move at all hence the home euthanasia. This so called Dr has no knowledge of pet behaviour (look at the other reviews about him). You can ask Woodstock Vet Mt Druitt who recommended Pawssum. Everytime she would go to the vet all she would do is wag her tail from excitement. NO HISTORY OF AGRESSION EVER. This should all be included in the almost $700 I paid to Pawssum already. He advised there would be an extra charge not specifying the price. Already my elderly mum and sister were breaking down so I just said OK thinking it would maybe be like $80 or something along those lines. He obviously was taking advantage of our vulnerability.
He asked if I had a blanket or bed sheet to wrap her in before he put her in the body bag. Luckily I did but I thought these items would be provided as this is meant to be a service you are paying premium money for and saves me scavenging for a blanket while my body was shaking from the stress.
He then injected her with the anaesthesia and as soon as she went limp he just went ahead and shaved her arm and injected her with the final shot. He took no time to ask if we were okay and seemed to want to get the job done as fast as he can. The whole thing felt so fast and was over in minutes. He didn’t even give us a chance savour the last moments with our beloved pet. No empathy what so ever. During this whole process he was answering his mobile taking other calls, absolutely no respect.
He then gets the body bag and I had to assist him trying to hold myself together while he stuffed her in a bag that is just big enough to cover her. He then ties the bag up and handles the bag like it was just common trash. He needed me to help carry her to the car which I did but with me taking all the weight and straining my back in the process. What if I wasn’t able to help? Would he be dragging the bag to the car?
He then pulls out his eftpos machine and advised the extra cost was $230. In shock I asked why is it so expensive as I already paid nearly $700 and he advised he is an individual Dr and has his own fees. I had to pay fees outside of what was already agreed to. He argued that I agreed to the extra cost even though he didn’t advise the amount at the time I signed the phone agreement. Obviously a tactic to get more money as if he told me the amount I wouldn’t have agreed in the first place. I paid the fee on the brink of breaking down and the worst part is he has the audacity to say in these exact words “NOTHING IS FREE IN THIS LIFE”. At this point he was still trying to justify ripping me off and I just wanted him to leave so I walked him out. As soon as I closed the door I was so angry I was shaking and I just broke down crying.

AVOID this vet at all costs and save yourself some trauma. I have a lot of friends and family with pets and I will be spreading the word to avoid them like the plague. I am seriously discouraged from owning another pet again. I feel scammed and manipulated at the worst period of my life!
