The movers arrived today. I am so very disappointed in International Van Lines. We hired them because they are the the most highly rated by consumer reports and AARP. Unfortunately they subbed this job out to a horrid group called Roadrunner Moving and Storage. Please steer clear of either of these companies! We paid for a full pack and wrap including boxes for everything. Six out of seven lamps and chandeliers arrived damaged or broken because they were inadequately wrapped and many were not even boxed .

I haven’t even started to look at my Mom’s collection of 200 plus glass paperweights!

I am most heart sick about the piano. It was misloaded onto a wrong truck in Las Vegas. I believe it was there that the full pack was opened and the piano was dissembled and then loaded back onto the truck. It arrived with a broken pedal, 4 odd parts, many dings and an exposed sounding board and strings.

I realize that this is all just stuff, and that it can be replaced. Having Mom arrive safely is what really counts. Unfortunately, I have a strong emotional attachment to this piano, as it was my mother’s, and I have fond memories of both her and my grandmother playing it, and young Allison playing it as well. I didn’t think a move would bring me to tears.
