Inside the Mar a Lago stands an extraordinary Steinway piano from another century, beautifully crafted — a piano that has witnessed private moments of learning and music within the presidential family. Sitting near it, one feels that music, too, belongs to the search for harmony in the world. I am immensely privileged to spend these days in this historic home to produce and perform my Concerto for Peace. I know that this version of the concerto was unlike any other. I have performed the Concerto for Peace at the European Commission before commissioners who decide on peace and war. I have performed it at the French Senate before political leaders who decide on peace and war. I have performed it at the Italian Parliament before those who shape peace and war. I have performed it at the Vatican, which for decades has chosen only peace. Nearby stands the podium from which the President addresses the world — a reminder that decisions taken in calm spaces can echo across continents.
